Science in Sport launch another World's First.

The world’s first fully certified organic energy and hydration drinks have been launched by Science in Sport. Organic variants of the products PSP22 and Go Electrolyte, which were used so successfully by Team GB Cycling and Team GB Sailing at the Beijing Olympics, were premiered at the TCR Show at Sandown Park, Surrey on the 8/9th of February. Science in Sport is the first company to meet the Organic Farmers and Growers Federation organic classification standards with its two new sports drinks. Organic PSP22 is a complex carbohydrate energy fuel for high-energy performance and Organic Go Electrolyte is a carbohydrate energy fuel with electrolytes to give you ultimate performance in the heat. Both drinks allow rapid hydration and aid high-energy performance at all sporting levels. Science in Sport has spent five years developing manufacturing methods to ensure it meets stringent production line standards and materials certification to offer a fully certified quality product.

Tim Lawson, director of Science in Sport, said: “We are committed to offering and developing high quality exercise and sport related nutritional products. Since day one we have worked with athletes to develop products which meet their training and performance needs. This launch follows a five year research and development project. Whilst our products have used many organic ingredients for years, it was not as simple as replacing all non organic ingredients. All Science in Sport products are drug free and developed in accordance with World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) regulations on prescribed substances. Our in-house manufacturing facility allows us to ensure each and every product meets our required standards.”

Hull Kingston Rovers choose Science in Sport as official nutrition partner.

hull_krTo help them go the distance, Hull Kingston Rovers Super League Rugby Team have enlisted the company behind the world’s first isotonic energy gel - ‘GO-Gel’ - which is scientifically proven to increase endurance by forty five percent during exercise. HULLKR

Kingston Rovers’ Head of Strength and Conditioning Billy Mallinson said “We looked at several nutrition companies and product ranges pre-season and for us the choice was easy. Protein supplementation is critical to our sport and products like Rego Rapid, Build and Nocte have been instrumental in developing power and strength. Nocte in particular is a night time recovery drink which improves recovery during the night whilst promoting better quality sleep. The fact that Science in Sport has won a Queen’s Award for Industry in the Innovation category for its GO-Gel, coupled with impressive performance reviews of a number of their other products spoke volumes and made Science in Sport the natural choice. Hull Kingston Rovers has ambitions to become a major contender in Super League rugby this year and we felt that choosing SiS as our nutrition partner will help put the team in even better shape to achieve this.”

Science in Sport helps stars go the distance.

shearerScience in Sport helped Match of the Day duo Alan Shearer and Adrian Chiles complete their 335 mile charity Sport Relief Super Cycle. The pair were raising money to help vulnerable people living incredibly tough lives both in the UK and across the world’s poorest countries. SIS provided the athletes with its range of energy products, including Go Gels, Go Bars and Go Electrolytes. Shearer and Chiles cycled 335 miles from Newcastle to London, via West Bromwich, in just two days. On day one they covered 186 miles, greater than the maximum distance cycled in any one day of the Tour de France, which is 149 miles. Professor Greg Whyte, the Coach and Co-ordinator to Alan Shearer and Adrian Chiles for the Sport Relief Super Cycle, said: "24 hours in the saddle over a 34 hour period for non-cyclists is an incredible achievement. Add to this a total distance of 335 miles with a head wind all the way, rain and at times snow and it makes the successful arrival of Adrian Chiles and Alan Shearer at BBC TV Centre on Friday night a truly epic challenge. Energy supply was fundamental in making the project a success and the advanced nutrition products from Science in Sport were the key to providing what was needed - without SiS success would have been unlikely."

Saints join Science in Sport.

saintsSt Helens RLFC has made a pivotal signing in its bid for the title, as it announces a three year, exclusive sports nutrition sponsorship deal with Science in Sport.

To ensure Saints go the distance this time around, they have signed the company behind the world’s first isotonic gel; GO-Gels, which are scientifically proven to enhance endurance by forty five percent during exercise.

The Saints became the Modern Era’s most successful rugby league team after winning three of the four trophies on offer in 2007. They are determined to go one better in 2008 by adding real substance to the engine room and regard GO-Gels as one of its most important signings in recent years.

The gels are particularly relevant to rugby as independent research carried out by Loughborough University’s Stephen Patterson, confirms GO-Gels’ effectiveness in increasing endurance after prolonged intermittent high-intensity shuttle running.

saints_adSaints’ head of strength and conditioning, Apollo Perelini said: “Forget energy drinks, these products are set to revolutionise how sports people adopt sporting nutritional aids at all levels. The gel uses a unique formulation that makes it possible to take on board significant carbohydrate without compromising hydration. The SiS range of protein products are also pivotal in the fitness and conditioning of our players.”

St Helens’ first Super League home game took place on Friday night (Friday 15th February) and the club secured its first win in front of its home fans.

GO-Gels have already carved a strong reputation and credibility with people who have excelled in sport such as Bradley Wiggins (leading cyclist and Olympian) and arguably the world’s greatest living explorer, Sir Ranulph Fiennes.
